01 — Translation

SRT Translation

How do I translate an SRT file?

Upload the file

Drag & drop or click the upload area on the Translate Subtitles page. Accepted format: .srt, .vtt, .ass, .ssa, .sub, max 10MB.

Choose languages

Select the source language (or leave on Auto detect) and the target language.

Click Translate

1 credit is used. Translation runs in the background — the progress bar shows status in real time.

Download the file

When translation is done, the download button appears. The translated file is saved in Translation History.

How long does a translation take?

It depends on the file size and the number of dialogs:

Small file (under 50KB, ~1h of film): 1–5 minutes
Medium file (50–100KB, ~2h of film): 5–9 minutes
Large file (over 100KB, long series): 9–20 minutes

Translation runs in the background — you can close the tab and come back later. The file will be available in History.

What languages are available?

There are 25 languages available: Română, Engleză, Franceză, Germană, Spaniolă, Italiană, Portugheză, Olandeză, Poloneză, Rusă, Ucraineană, Turcă, Arabă, Chineză, Japoneză, Coreeană, Hindi, Suedeză, Daneză, Finlandeză, Cehă, Slovacă, Maghiară, Bulgară, Greacă.

The system auto-detects the source language.

Is formatting and sync preserved?

Yes, completely. The system translates only the text — subtitle numbers, timestamps and SRT structure remain identical. HTML tags in subtitles (<i>, <b>) are also preserved. The translated file is compatible with any video player.

How many translations are kept in history?

The last 10 translations per account are kept in Translation History and can be re-downloaded anytime. Older translations are automatically deleted.

How do I extract subtitles from a video?

Go to Extract Subs page

Access Extract Subtitle page from the menu.

Upload the video

Drag & drop or click. Large files are uploaded in 5MB chunks. Do not close the page during upload.

Choose the subtitle track

The system automatically detects all available tracks and displays them with the language flag.

Download or translate

Press ⬇ SRT for direct download or 🌍 Translate to send for translation.

What subtitle types can be extracted?

All text formats are automatically converted to SRT. Graphic formats contain images and cannot be converted without OCR.

Is the video kept on the server after extraction?

No. The video is automatically deleted immediately after subtitle extraction. Only SRT files remain temporarily on the server, auto-deleted after 2 hours. Translate immediately after extraction if needed.

I can't find subtitles in my video. Why?

There are a few possible reasons:

1. Subtitles are hardcoded — burned directly into the image, no separate track exists.

2. Video has no embedded subtitles — look for a separate .srt file or an MKV that includes subtitles or go to Audio/Video Transcription Page and transcribe subtitles.

How does audio/video transcription work?

Access Transcription from the menu.

Upload the audio or video file

Drag & drop or click. Large files are uploaded in chunks automatically.

Choose model and language

Select the model (recommended: Large-v3) and audio language. If unsure, leave Auto detect.

Download the generated SRT

When transcription is done, the download button appears. You can send the SRT directly for translation.

What models are available?

Four models are available, with different speed/accuracy tradeoffs:

Tiny — fastest, less accurate. Good for quick tests.

Small — good balance between speed and accuracy.

Medium — accurate and fast with GPU. Ideal for films and series.

Large — Recommended the most accurate.

How long does transcription take?

With GPU processing, the Medium model transcribes approximately:

Short audio (under 10 min): 1–5 minutes
Standard film (90–120 min): 55–75 minutes
Long film / series (over 2 hours): 80–120 minutes

Is transcription free?

Yes. Audio/video transcription does not use credits — it is completely free. If you want to translate the resulting SRT into another language, that will use 1 credit.

What languages can Whisper transcribe?

Whisper supports over 90 languages, including Romanian, English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Ukrainian, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and many more.

If you don't specify the language, the system auto-detects it from the first 30 seconds of audio.

04 — Formats

Supported formats

What subtitle formats does translation accept?

Translation accepts only .srt, .vtt, .ass, .ssa, .sub files.

What is the maximum file size?

For example the limit for .srt file is 10MB — enough for any film or series. A typical .srt for a 2-hour film is between 50KB and 200KB.

What is the maximum video file size?

Video files can be uploaded up to 50GB. Large files are automatically sent in 5MB chunks, so there is no timeout risk. A 13–20GB 4K film uploads without issues.

Subtitle converter

What can the subtitle converter do?

The converter transforms subtitle files from one format to another, preserving text and timestamps. It's useful when your video player doesn't support the original format.

How do I convert a subtitle file?

Go to Converter page

Access Converter from the menu.

Upload the file

Select the subtitle file. The source format is detected automatically.

Choose output format

Select the desired format: SRT, ASS, VTT, SUB etc.

Download the converted file

Conversion is instant. The converted file downloads automatically.

Does conversion use credits?

No. Subtitle conversion is completely free and does not use credits, regardless of how many conversions you do.

Is information lost during conversion?

It depends on formats:

OK ASS → SRT: text and timestamps preserved, visual styles (colors, positions) lost.

OK SRT → VTT: complete conversion without loss.

OK SRT → ASS: complete conversion, with default style added.

06 — Credits

Credits system

How do credits work?

1 credit = 1 complete translation, regardless of SRT file size.

Extracting subtitles from video and other options is free — no credits used. To activate them, a credit package must be purchased.

On registration you receive 1 free credit. Credit never expire.

What happens if translation fails?

If translation fails due to a system error, the credit is automatically refunded to your account.

Do credits expire?

No. Purchased credits have no expiry date — they stay in your account until you use them.

07 — Quality & AI

Translation quality

What AI model is used?

Translations are made with GPT-4o-mini by OpenAI — a model optimized for speed and quality, trained on multilingual texts.

The model understands dialogue context, not word-by-word translation. Results sound natural with appropriate cinematic language.

Is translation contextual or literal?

Contextual. Subtitles are sent to AI in batches to preserve conversation context. The model sees multiple lines simultaneously — just like a human translator reading the whole scene.

Can I get a better translation by running again?

Yes. AI models have some variability — a second translation may be slightly different. If the initial translation is unsatisfactory, you can translate again (uses a new credit).

08 — Common issues

Problem solving

The translation is stuck at a percentage.

The progress bar is an estimate. If it seems stuck:

1. Wait 2–20 more minutes (large files take longer)
2. Check History — if it finished, the file appears there
3. Reload the page — if done, the download button will appear automatically

I got a network error when uploading the video.

This error usually occurs due to an unstable connection:

1. Do not close the tab while uploading large files
2. Use a stable connection (not public WiFi)
3. Try again — the upload system will restart from scratch

The translated SRT file doesn't sync correctly.

Timestamps are not modified by the translation system — if sync was correct in the original, it will be correct in the translation too.

If there are sync issues, they existed in the source file. You can adjust with Subtitle Sync (free).

I can't find the translated file in History.

History keeps the last 10 translations. If you made more than 10, the oldest ones are automatically deleted.

Tip: download the file immediately after translation is complete.
